The “A Hit and Three Misses” Update

RTX 4060, RTX 4060 Ti 16GB, Peerless Assassin, Peerful Assassin

There have not been that many major releases recently, so this will be a small update that mostly includes items we are not adding to our chart.

And before we get to those items: All three non-added items are due to bad pricing. They are great items if they were cheaper, but we at Logical Increments would probably not recommend $100 cups of coffee either.

– Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 ($38)

This excellent dual-fan dual-tower cooler comes with a shockingly low price.

If you need a new HSF and this fits your needs, get one before people realize that it is a steal and start raising the price. A very easy and welcome addition to the HSFs that we recommend.

X – Deepcool Assassin IV ($100)

That was on the radar since the first renders were made public. Absolutely gorgeous, and practically the best looking HSF on the market, with solid build quality too.

Unfortunately, the performance is closer to what you would expect in the $60-$70 range, so this item needs to come down in price.

X – nVidia Geforce RTX 4060 (non Ti) ($300)

In a rare moment of unintended solidarity, all reviewers united to say that this card was badly priced and a terrible purchase. We even had reviews that outright put criticism in the title of the review of this card! Behold Linus saying “I’m actually getting MAD now” and the Verge summarizing a lot of reviews with “you deserve better“.

Come on nVidia, how about a price drop? You pretty much owe it to your customers who are giving you a ~90% marketshare in the discrete space, no?

X – nVidia Geforce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB ($500)

Imagine a card with a price so shameful, that you are too embarrassed to sample it to reviewers. This $500 card, referred to as “Nvidia’s $500 Joke?” was found to be between 0% – 2% faster than the overpriced “Do Not Buy” $400 8GB version of the same card.

There is a word for “selling $330 cards for $400”, and that word is “greedy“. But selling a $330 card for $500? What word do we use to describe that? You can let us know in the comments, dear reader.

Going Forward

With that, we will be adding the Peerless Assassin to our build chart, hoping for a price cut on the Assassin IV (soon please!), and shaking our heads in amusement at the RTX 4060 variations.
